Goblins:

Cave Goblin
A (+1) D (+1) HP 4

The smallest of the goblin family, cave goblins inhabit many of the caverns surrounding the Berholme valley. Cave goblins can be distinguished by their almost translucent skin, jutting foreheads and tiny, beady eyes. In build they are also smaller and much more crooked than their non-subterranean brethren. Although sunlight does not seem to harm Cave Goblins they generally avoid travelling on the surface during the day, if by necessity they are forced to travel some distance above ground they will nearly always do so at night.
Although the goblins of mythology are generally portrayed as being wicked and cruel, cave goblins are more cowardly and mischievous than evil. Nevertheless occasionally stories circulate of goblin attacks on isolated farmsteads or coaching inns, the local human population generally reacts to these tales with vicious pogroms against the local goblin tribe, often essentially exterminating them.

Greater Goblin
A (+2) D (+3) HP 6

In ancient times men and the greater goblins fought many long campaigns and savage wars against each other. Slowly, as man gained higher and higher levels of technology, the greater goblins where killed or driven out of their ancestral lands. Now the power of the goblins is virtually broken and the greater goblins only exist as scavengers on the edge of human society, occasionally emerging from their forest or mountain homes to trade or raid. In some places goblins are even employed as agricultural or industrial labour, this is rare however, for the goblin’s pugilistic nature does not make them particularly useful or diligent workers.
The Greater Goblin can be distinguished from its subterranean brother by its much darker skin, heavier build and much more upright stance. They are also far braver and will often challenge groups of human travellers for ‘payment’, often all of their possessions or indeed even their lives.

Wolves:

Night Wolf
A (+2) D (+2) HP 8

A larger cousin than the common wolf the Night Wolf is a dangerous predator. Although long since exterminated throughout much of the south, the Night Wolf is still quite prevalent in the hills and dales around Berholme. Although a common wolf would generally never attack a man except during the depths of the harshest winters, Night Wolves are a different proposition all together. It is not at all uncommon for lone timber getters or hunters to be set upon by vicious packs of Night Wolves. Such is the ferocity and strength of the Night Wolf in many of the Northern tribes it is considered a great deed for a warrior to kill a Night Wolf while armed only with a spear.
Night Wolves take their name from their eerie howling than can be heard echoing around the hills of Berholme valley on many a winter night.

Stalker Wolf
A (+5) D (+3) HP 13

One of the many Myths has it the Stalker Wolves where bread by the Greater Goblins as a form of vicious war dog. If this was the case the Goblins where only partially successful - for the while the Stalker Wolf is utterly vicious, it attacks both men and goblins with equal relish, and is totally untameable.
Unlike the Night Wolves who will attack men for food, the Stalker seems to hunt men simply for the joy of it - often leaving the corpses of its victims unconsumed. Virtually every village has a story the of a Stalker Wolf sneaking into the town at night to devour a baby in it’s cradle or even kill an entire family in their beds. When such an animal is in an area the only option is to hunt it down mercilessly - for only their death will stop these beasts killing. Hunting down these beasts is not an easy option however, such is their dark intelligence that an ancient pagan fablehas it that when the great demon Illcarneth was slain by the Earth God, pieces of his soul fell to the earth and took the form of Wolves, creating the Stalkers.

Ogres:

Ogre
A (+7) D (+4) HP 12

Like the goblins, ogres have been pushed back to the fringes of human society. Unlike the goblins, ogres have managed to find a way to successfully interact with human society, principally as mercenaries. It is a rare human army that take the field without a group of ogre shock troops in the centre of their line. Ogres are also employed extensively as bodyguards and sometimes as particularly unsubtle assassins.
Ogre-s generally stand 7-8ft tall are highly muscled and have rather Cro-Magnon features. They live in primitive tribal groupings and are cable of speaking basically in the human tongue. Ogres have a great love for battle and fighting and also exhibit an incredibly developed sense of loyalty to their pay-masters.

Ogre Chieftain
A (+8) D (+6) HP 16

The Ogre tribes do not possess nobility as such; instead the strongest and most cunning among them rise to a position of dominance within a tribe. To stay in this position of power the ogre chieftain must continually demonstrate its intelligence and strength or risk being overthrown by a usurper. The result of this is that Ogre Chieftain's are always hard bitten, incredibly powerful individuals - even more dangerous foes than common Ogre's.

Demothean Troops:

Demothean Infantryman
A (+3) D (+4) HP 10

Well disciplined, decently equipped and highly motivated these troops make up the backbone of Demothean army. Raised in quasi military schools since their early teens these troops are totally steeped in the ethos of Demothean militarism, they obey without question and react without hesitation.
It is the Demothean Infantryman's utter obedience to their officers and courage on the battlefield that has allowed the Demothean Empire to expand from a small city state into a continental Empire in a little less than 250 years. In these troops expect a relentless foe.

Demothean Steel Guard
A (+5) D (+8) HP 12

Those Demothean Infantrymen who have greatly distinguished themselves on the field of battle may be rewarded with a place in the Steel Guard.
This unit is almost certainly the finest military formation in the world. Used by the Demothean's as shock troops or bodyguards for particularly distinguished general, the Steel Guard are doughty in defence and vicious in attack. They follow orders even more fanatically than the normal Demothean Infantry and many atrocities have been linked to the Steel Guard - for as far as they are concerned no deed is to base if it is in the service of the Demothean Empire.
